Riverhawks boys, girls soccer tops Woolwich

WOOLWICH — The Medomak Riverhawks boys and girls soccer teams hit the road to Woolwich Friday, Sept. 8, to challenge the Woolwich Wildcats. 

Below are the reported stats and information of the two contests that gave both Medomak teams 1-0 records.

Boys Soccer: Medomak 9, Woolwich 0

The Riverhawk boys defeated the Woolwich Wildcats on Friday with a score of 9-0.

Medomak came out fast with Po Pfirrman scoring the Riverhawks opening goal with an assist from Addison Mellor. Addison Mellor, Jake Bickmore, Matthew Holbrook, Will Cheeseman, Tyler Leonard and Jaiden Starr added goals throughout the game.

Aiden Sawyer distributed the ball very well by assisting on two goals.

The Wildcats goalie made many great saves and the defense disrupted many offensive attacks.

In goal for Medomak was Jaiden Starr and Ryan Jarvis. Miguel Tomas Atkinson-Tatro, Gavin Clark and Tyler Leonard provided strong defense in the Riverhawks defense.

Girls Soccer: Medomak 2, Woolwich 0

The Medomak Middle girls soccer team hit the road Friday, Sept. 8 to Woolwich where the Riverhawks posted a 2-0 victory. 

“It was a hot day [with] not much wind, but [we were] ready,” Medomak Middle head coach Andrea Williamson said. 

The Riverhawks had shots early on goal, but could not find the net early in the game. 

Then, with 15:49 gone in the opening half, Annie Vannoy scored on a direct kick from outside the 18. 

Eight minutes into the second half, Lizzi Swan scored on a cross from Vannoy to make the score 2-0. 

“Great defense was played by Zaniah Puchalski, Julia Kunesh and Baylee Stewart in goal,” Williamson stated. “It was a great team effort for win [number one].”
