Regional Semifinals set: Vinalhaven girls riding 31 game win streak, Medomak boys eye crown

AUGUSTA — The regional semifinal high school basketball games have been set and two local squads will be eyeing the chance to play for a regional championship. 

Both the Medomak Valley boys and Vinalhaven girls won their respective regional quarterfinal contests, with Medomak Valley knocking off third-seeded Skowhegan 63-31 on Saturday, Feb. 17 and Vinalhaven topping eighth-seeded Valley 62-26 in a Tuesday morning contest. 

The sixth-seeded Medomak Valley boys basketball team will be challenging second-seeded Nokomis on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center. 

The top-seeded Vinalhaven girls basketball will be riding a 31-game winning streak into the Thursday, Feb. 22 showdown against Greenville at 11:30 a.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
