Red Jacket Regatta fills Rockland Harbor with 420s, Optimists

Mon, 08/03/2015 - 10:00am

On Sunday, July 26, Rockland Community Sailing hosted the Rockland Red Jacket Regatta, a competitive yet low-key day of youth racing aboard Optimist and 420 sailboats on Rockland Harbor.

The Red Jacket Regatta develops regatta experience, racing skills, and has a strong focus on sportsmanship, community, and fun. All proceeds from the regatta support Rockland Community Sailing's youth scholarship fund.

Rockland Community Sailing is a program of The Apprenticeshop, at 655 Main Street, Rockland. The Apprenticeshop is a school for traditional wooden boatbuilding and seamanship offering a variety of sailing and boatbuilding programs for youth and adults. Rockland Community Sailing is now enrolling for Summer Youth and Adult Sailing. The sailing season runs through October. RCS programs sail in Lermond Cove on Rockland Harbor in view of the lighthouse and breakwater. For more information, visit rocklandcommunitysailing.org.
