Prison officials investigating death of inmate

    WARREN — Maine State Police and the state Medical Examiner are reviewing the death Sunday morning of a Maine State Prison inmate from Cumberland County.

    Steven Holloway, 51, died at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

    According to a Maine Department of Corrections press release Sunday evening, Holloway was in prison for a manslaughter conviction. He was sentenced Dec. 20, 1999. At the time of his death, he had served approximately 15 years of a split 35-year sentence, with all but 20 years suspended, plus six years of probation.

    Holloway was scheduled to be released from prison on Oct. 13, 2018, according to the Department of Corrections.

    Review of the cause of Holloway’s death is consistent with Department of Corrections department policy and the Attorney General’s Office protocols, according to the press release.
