UPDATE: Police locate handcuffed man who bolted from cruiser

    UPDATE: The man who ran off from a State Police cruiser still in handcuffs in Chelsea, Oct. 29, has been captured. Jason Langdon was taken into custody late last night, Oct. 30, by Portland Police, after getting a ride to Portland from an unsuspecting motorist.  Langdon still had the handcuffs on, although the chain had been cut. The motorist who gave him a ride did not notice the handcuffs until he dropped Langdon off at a homeless shelter and then he called police. Langdon is now in the Kennebec County Jail.


    Maine State Police are asking for public helping in finding a man who ran off from State Troopers last night in Chelsea, still in handcuffs. 

    Troopers are looking for  34-year-old Jason Langdon, who was last seen near Overlook Drive in West Gardiner about 11:30 Wednesday night, Oct. 29.

    Earlier, troopers had stopped the car Langdon was driving along Route 9 In Chelsea. He allegedly gave the trooper a false name, was arrested, put in handcuffs and placed in the cruiser.  Langdon then bolted from the car and ran off into the woods, losing one shoe along the way, according to a release from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety.

    Troopers, aided by a state police canine, searched the area, but with no success. Approximately five hours later, Langdon was spotted in West Gardiner by a resident.  Troopers also searched that area with no luck.    

    Langdon is a transient with no permanent address, police said.  He is 5-foot, 5 inches tall , weighs 135 pounds and has brown hair and green eyes.  He is also wanted on charges from Colorado and Florida.
