Police arrest two for statewide burglaries; Rockland, Northport, Palermo businesses affected

    Last week, Maine State Police reported the arrest of two Biddeford area men in with more than 25 burglaries across Maine. Some of those businesses included J.C. Penney, in Rockland, as well as Palermo and Northport convenience stores.

    Another man was also being sought in connection with the crimes.

    A state police task force made the arrest following multiple search warrants execute. As a result, stolen property and drugs were recovered and more than 80 items of evidence were seized. The total value of the items stolen and the damages to the businesses exceeds $200,000. Most of these commercial burglaries were similar in nature.

    Both men, Michael Warner, 37, and Taylor Shultz, 34, were arrested at a Biddeford apartment.

    The task force brought together all the police agencies investigating the burglaries, which resulted in the arrests. The case is coordinated through the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office.
