NORTHPORT — On Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Point Lookout Farm will be holding an open house and invites the public to take a tour of the new four-season, MOFGA-certified organic farm and learn about the new state-of-the-art composting facility scheduled for completion in 2014.

Since athenahealth's purchase of Point Lookout in 2011, a new vision of sustainability is emerging on the mountain. The farm, built on what used to be an under-utilized baseball field, grows fresh produce for Point Lookout conference center events and for athenahealth's Belfast office café.

Guests to the open house will be able to meet the farm manager, explore the fields and greenhouses, and check out the farm stand stocked with greens and root vegetables. There will be pumpkins for the kids, cider, apples, and other nibbles from the farm.
