Permelia ‘Millie’ Turnbull, obituary

CAMDEN — Permelia "Millie" Turnbull, 85, of Camden, died Feb. 18, 2017, at Anderson Inn in Camden, where she had resided for the past several years. Born in Bath on Aug. 15, 1931, she was the daughter of Charles and Jenny Noyes and grew up in North Waldoboro.

A member of the Class of 1949 of Waldoboro High School, Millie married Bradford R. Turnbull on March 31, 1951, in Waldoboro.

In 1955, Brad and Millie moved to Camden where they raised their five children. They were active members of the Assembly of God Church in Thomaston for many years. Millie enjoyed hosting weekly women's prayer groups in her home, reading and writing poetry.

An excellent cook who specialized in desserts, Millie's family and friends were treated to her beautiful pies, cream puffs, donuts and other creations for a number of years.

Millie had a passion for missions, especially in regards to children, and sponsored two young girls through Save the Children.

Millie was predeceased by her husband, Bradford R. Turnbull, who died in 2010; her son, Paul, who died in 2000; her brother, Edwin Noyes; and her brother-in-law, Raymond Rawley. Surviving are four children, Kathy Blood of Thomaston, Ruth Scott of Camden, Stephen Turnbull and his wife, Debbie, of Rockland and Mariah Robson of California; five grandchildren, Jason Turnbull, Jennifer Blood, Michael Blood, Stephen Turnbull and Shelby Turnbull; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Maggie, Maya and Jackson; and a sister, Viola Rawley of North Waldoboro.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden with the Rev. Thomas Rawley officiating. Spring burial will be held in Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro.
