Penobscot Bay YMCA Boat Auction seeks boats and nautical items

Sat, 04/29/2017 - 8:45am

ROCKPORT — The Penobscot Bay YMCA's annual Ned Kyle Boat Auction is scheduled for Saturday, June 10. The YMCA is looking for new or old boats (sail, power, dinghy, kayak, canoe, skiffs, rowing shells, surf boards and just about anything that floats) or marine items that individuals would like to donate, or donate as a tax write-off. Someone from the Y will stop by and make sure the item is suitable, and arrange for transportation at no expense to the donor.

Boat owners can claim the selling price as a tax deduction.

Since the first auction in 1998, this major fundraising event has provided support for the YMCA Scholarship Program. This year's auction will continue to provide much needed support for the YMCA Summer Camp’s kids and families, as well as other neighbors in need.

The Y's mission of keeping the facility accessible to everyone regardless of financial capacity is anchored firmly in its commitment to social responsibility.

With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive. To donate a boat or for more information please call Marcia Roberts, development director at the YMCA at 236-3375, ext. 209.
