Pen Bay Medical Center, Waldo County General Hospital receive grants from UMCC

ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) and Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) would like to thank United Midcoast Charities (UMC) for $19,000 in grants recently received. UMC supports agencies providing medical, physical, social, psychiatric or community educational services for residents of Knox and Waldo Counties.
UMC awarded grants to the following PBMC and WCGH programs:

• $10,000 to support general operations at Waldo County Dental Care, which provides preventative and restorative dental care for low-income, uninsured adults.

• $5,000 to support general operations of the CarePartners program, a network of MaineHealth, doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers that helps people who don't qualify for public or private insurance programs get the healthcare they need.

• $2,500 to support general operations of Belfast Public Health Nursing, a program of Waldo County General Hospital that provides critically needed health care services to the poor and needy of Belfast, Maine and adjacent communities.

• $1,500 to fund scholarships for children and adults living in low-income households who wish to participate in the Journey to Health program. Journey to Health is a wellness program that offers healthy cooking classes, physical movement classes and healthy mind and body classes in communities throughout Knox and Waldo counties.
