FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Despite the New England Patriots still in the run for a Super Bowl appearance, reports have surfaced indicating the Patriots will be losing coordinators on both sides of the ball this off-season.

After weeks of rumors, the rumors turned into a reality just 24 hours after the Patriots secured a 35-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans as Albert Breer reported the Detroit Lions had “informed other candidates they have been eliminated” from the team’s head coaching search leading to the expectation that Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will be tabbed as Detroit’s new head coach once the season is over in Foxborough.

Early Monday, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported the Indianapolis Colts are expected to tab Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as the organization’s new head coach once his duties are finished with the Patriots.

Coordinator Résumés

The Lions would represent the first time Patricia held a head coaching title. Patricia, a three time Super Bowl champion, has spent time as an assistant for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (graduate assistant), Amherst University (defensive line), Syracuse (offensive graduate assistant).

With the Patriots, Patricia has spent time as an offensive assistant, assistant offensive line coach, linebackers coach and safeties coach before assuming the defensive coordinator role in 2012.

McDaniels boasts an 11-17 record as a head coach from his time as the leader of the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010.

McDaniels, a five time Super Bowl champion, also held positions with Michigan State University (graduate assistant), St. Louis Rams (offensive coordinator and quarterbacks).

Within the Patriots organization, McDaniels previously spent time as a personnel assistant, defensive assistant and solely a quarterbacks coach before assuming the dual offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach role in two different stints (2006-2008, 2012-present).
