Panthers fall to Morse; top MCI in Wednesday wrestling matches

MORSE — The Medomak Valley high school wrestling team hit the road once again and this time went to Morse to battle Morse and Maine Central Institute. 

In the end, the Panthers returned to Waldoboro with a victory by a score of 36-18 over Maine Central Institute and a loss to Morse by a score of 36-30.

The Panthers are now 3-7 on the year. 

Following are individual results from the matches. 

  • 132 pounds: Deagan Poland (5-5, 2 pins) lost by pin to Dylan Dahlberg of MCI at 4:33 and won by pin over Mick Swanson of Morse at 1:51
  • 138 pounds: Steven Thompson (7-3, 5 pins) got a forfeit from MCI and won by pin over Isaiah Cogswell from Morse at 1:59
  • 145 pounds: Riley McCollett (3-1, 1 pin) received a forfeit from MCI
  • 145 pounds: Tim Jerome (4-2, 2 pins) won by pin over Damion Patridge of Morse at 0:58.
  • 152 pounds: Quinn Ashmore (7-3, 4 pins) received a forfeit from MCI and won by pin over Nate Rose of Morse at 1:47
  • 160 pounds: Andrew Cronk (6-4, 4 pins) received a forfeit from MCI and lost by pin to Taylor Avery of Morse at 3:27
  • 170 pounds: Samantha Fowles (2-1) received a forfeit from MCI
  • 285 pounds: Owen Gilbert (8-2, 5 pins) won by pin over Seth Wilcox of MCI at 1:23 and received a forfeit from Morse

On Saturday, Dec. 21, the Panthers will travel to Wells for the Atlantic Invitational.
