Oceanside topples Camden Hills in JV contest

Team effort leads Mariners over Windjammers

ROCKPORT – With 10 players putting points up on the scoreboard the Mariners were able to overpower the Windjammers Wednesday night in the junior varsity matchup at Camden Hills.

Oceanside had three players in double figures to lead the team to a 72-44 win in a game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27 and postponed by the Blizzard of 2015.

After an evenly matched first half with Oceanside taking a 2-17 first quarter lead and a 35-31 half time advantage, the Mariners opened it up in the third quarter taking a 50-39 lead heading into the final quarter where they cruised to the win.

Scoring for the Mariners were Michael Norton with 16 points; Nick Tinker and Josh Lutrell 14 each; Sam Atwood and Anthony Marsh eight each; Joseph Berger five; Coby Dorr three; Andrew King two; and Zach Davis one.

Oceanside was 21-of-33 from the foul line and had three 3-pointers, two from Tinker and one from Marsh.

For the Windjammers, Sam Feener had 10 points; Julian Starboard eight; Jesse Fraser, Conrad Crans and Morgan Ford five each; Wilson McKay four; Gavin Boyd three; and Daniel Peabody and Tucker Grinnell two each.

Camden Hills was 15-of-24 (63 percent) from the foul line. That knocked down three 3-pointers, two from Starboard and one from Feener.
