THOMASTON – Oceanside has had two very tough games back to back playing at Waterville they tied 2-2 and Monday they took on Winslow and handed them its second loss of the season falling 1-0 to the Mariners.

While the shots on goal tell one story with Oceanside dominating, the true story is how closely these two teams are talent wise and skill wise. What Oceanside seemed to have the advantage in is the depth of the Mariner bench. Camden Hills outshot the Black Raiders 19-5.

Casey Jo Pine had the lone goal of the game seconds into the second half. A pass from Kelsey Brooks turned into an assist as Pine dug in the box and got the shot by the keeper for the 1-0 lead that turned out to be all the Mariners needed.

Shooting for the Mariners was, Makenna Brooks, three; Pine one; K. Brooks six; Brianna Dugan two; Jillian Brooks three; and Gabby Simmons and Lauren Hatch one each.

Kalyn Grover was in goal for the Mariners where she had five saves on five shots and recorded her eighth shutout in nine games. She has allowed three goals all season. Hillary Libby was in goal for the Mariners where she had 18 saves on 19 shots.

Oceanside held the edge in Corners 7-2 and direct kicks 3-1.

The Mariners go to 9-0-1 on the season and maintain first place in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class “B” North. The top 12 teams make the postseason.
