Boys Tennis: Camden Hills 4, Oceanside 1

In singles, Camden Hills took two of three as Austin Pohlman defeated Nate Philbrook 7-6, 6-1 and Matt Morse defeated Eli Thorbjornson 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Henry Berry of Oceanside knocked off Josiah Krul 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles play, Josiah Simko/Jared Garske (Camden Hills) defeated Logan Finnegan/Steven Goodridge (Oceanside) 6-0, 7-5 and James Annis/Colby Arau (CH) defeated Nick Bennet/Alden Mason (OHS) 6-2, 6-1.

Coach Noah Capetta of Camden Hills said: “We knew that [Oceanside] would be tough again this year, especially in the singles department. They lost Cameron Butler, but Nate [Philbrook] and Eli [Thorjborson] have improved and they picked up Henry Berry. We were counting on our doubles to come through and Matt [Morse] was able to win in 3. If that match went the other way, and Nate won the first set tie-breaker against Austin [Pohlman], things could have ended differently for us. The margins were thinner than the overall score would suggest and we'll probably have to play better if we want to beat [Oceanside] again when we play them in two weeks at home.”
