New Year’s Day Open House on Beech Hill

Event has passed

ROCKPORT — Ring in the New Year with an invigorating hike at Beech Hill Preserve. Land Trust staff will open Beech Nut, the historic sod-roofed stone hut on top of Beech Hill, for this special event on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

“The Beech Nut will welcome you with a toasty fire, lit chandeliers, hot chocolate, and cookies (if you have any leftover cookies, bring them on up!) for a very sweet start to 2024,” said Coastal Mountains Land Trust, in a news release.

Dress warmly and wear appropriate footwear. No spikes or crampons will be allowed in the hut (they scratch our beautiful tiles, said CMLT). Watch for signs to park on designated side of the road if the Beech Hill Road lot is full. For the quickest route to the top of Beech Hill, please park at the trailhead located at 316 Beech Hill Rd.

Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 10,000 acres, offering 45 miles of trails for public access.
