New pastor starts at Wiscasset's First Congregational

Tue, 02/21/2017 - 2:30pm

Josh Fitterling will begin his ministry at the First Congregational Church UCC in Wiscasset on March 5. Following a two-year search for a pastor, after the retirement of Rev. John Potter, Fitterling was chosen by the search committee from over 180 candidates.

Rev. Fitterling will preach his first sermon at 10 a.m. on the first Sunday in Lent (March 5), followed by a potluck dinner. “Meet and Greet” sessions for the new pastor and members will be scheduled during the weeks that follow.

Fitterling, who has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a Masters in Divinity, was ordained in May 2015 following two years as a supply pastor for a small rural congregation in Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania. He moved to Massachusetts and began a full-time call as a Pastoral Resident at Wellesley Village Church in Wellesley.

Fitterling is excited by the possibility of combining his seminary training, pastoral experience and passion for ministries with the members of the church, located at 21 High Street. The phone number is 882-7544.
