ROCKPORT and UNION — Fire and rescue crews in Rockport and Union are tending to separate accidents in their towns the evening before the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Rockport Fire Department was called to an accident at 1032 Commercial Street (Route 1) near Warrenton Street and the Claddaugh Motel. Reports were of a car hitting a house.

Minutes later, Union Fire Department was called to Heald Highway (Route 17) in the vicinity of Wottons Mills Road for a car accident. This is the third accident on this stretch of Route 17 in about 36 hours. Unlike Tuesday's accidents, one of which sent a man to Bangor via LifeFlight and the other claimed the life of Brian Edgecomb of Rockland, tonight's accident in Union produced minor if any injuries.

The same is true in Rockport tonight, according to reports.

In Rockport, Camden First Aid Association responded but cleared the scene with no transports. On Heald Highway, Union Ambulance transported one patient to Pen Bay Medical Center.

This story will be updated later.
