MRC Welcomes New Tennis Pro

ROCKPORT – Midcoast Recreation Center is pleased to welcome Chris Nordenson to its tennis instructional staff. 

Chris is an enthusiastic USPTR (United States Professional Tennis Registry) certified tennis pro and Maine native. He ran his own tennis business in the Portland area for the past five years, which included private lessons, clinics and USTA (United States Tennis Association) team coaching.  

He grew up in Freeport and has played since he was five years old and competed since he was nine years old. 

Chris played for Freeport High School including making it all the way to the Western Maine Finals. He went on to coach the Freeport Girls Tennis team from 2011-2015.

Chris continues to compete in USTA leagues and tournaments as well as Maine Tennis Association Tournaments. He has been running tournaments for Maine Tennis Association for the past three years and was the Tournament Official for the 2015 Maine Principals' Association's Singles Tournament. 

Chris received his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota in 2009 and is currently working on getting his master’s degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire. 

Chris is heading up a handful of new tennis programs this fall including two Saturday adult offerings; Cardio tennis from 8-9 a.m. and a Doubles Hit group from 9-10:30 a.m.
