Medomak girls soccer gets warmed up for the season

Medomak girls look ready to compete

WALDOBORO – The Medomak Valley girls soccer team coached by veteran head coach Larry Jenkins and junior varsity coach Scott Hastings hosted Winslow to a scrimmage match Thursday.

Both teams looked good for early in the season, with strong play in the middle and good speed on the wings. Medomak ran the field well when either of the two full squad changes happened.

Coach Jenkins used every player on the bench giving everyone any opportunity to either just go out and play or work hard to make it difficult for the coach to not notice them.

Saturday will be a great time for the players to shine. The Panthers will be competing in the Oceanside Lady Mariner Kick-Off Tourney. Also a final excellent chance for the coaches to see game action for the players.

Winslow and Medomak do not play each other this year, so today was a good preseason scrimmage for both teams. They could see each other in the playoffs depending on each team's season.

Medomak will open the season Sept. 4 with the girls at home and the boys on the road. The Panthers will kick off the season against rival Oceanside. Both games start at 3:30 p.m.
