AUGUSTA – The Pine Tree Wrestling League held their championship meet Saturday, March 28 at Cony High School with 23 teams from around the state that compete in this middle school league.

After finishing second in the Eastern Regionals a week earlier The Riverhawks of Medomak Middle School pulled off a four point win over second place Oceanside to capture the championship.

Team scores for the League Championship were, 1, Medomak 102.0; 2, Oceanside 98.0; 3, Mountain Valley 86.0; 4, THMS 80.5; 5, Cony 75.5; 6, Nokomis 66.5; 7, Mt Ararat 65.0; 8, Bucksport 59.0; 9, Oxford Hills 57.0; 10, Dirigo 56.0; 11, HAL 47.0; 12, Mt View 41.0; 13, Mattanawcook 36.5; 14, HAWC 36.0; 15, Bath 32.0; 16, Skowhegan 32.0; 17, Mt Blue 28.0; 18, Sugg 25.0; 19, Winslow 20.0; 20, Ellsworth 11.0; 21, Madison 9.5; 22, CRMS 9.0; and 23, Hampden 2.5.

Individually Medomak brought home one championship at 93 pounds from Duncan Widdecombe; three second places and one third place.

Oceanside had three first place champions, 99 pounds, Alex Fogerty, 105 pounds, Bennett Penney and 117 pounds Ben Ripley; one third place and fourth place.

Troy Howard had one champion at 111 pounds in Patrick Curtis; one second place; two third place and one fourth place.

HAL (Hope, Appleton, Lincolnville) had two second place winners and one fourth place.

Mount View had one second place winner, one third and one fourth.

Camden-Rockport had one fourth place finisher.
