THORNDIKE — The Medomak fifth and sixth grade girls travel basketball team hit the road to Thorndike over the weekend and won the Mustang March Madness tournament. 

Following the tournament’s championship contest, Kytana Williamson won the Outstanding Player Award while Katherine McKenney was named to the tournament’s all-star team. 

Game One: Medomak 27, Lawrence 6th 18

Throughout the first half, the game was a back-and-forth affair, according to coach Andrea Williamson, with Medomak taking an 18-12 advantage into the half. 

In the second half, defense dominated the game and Medomak forced Lawrence to commit turnovers and picked up nine points to Lawrence’s six in the second half.

Heading into the half, Medomak held a 14-4 advantage.

With a championship game berth on the line, Medomak held a 19-7 halftime advantage, thus sending Medomak to the title game.
