AUGUSTA — Maine State Police announced Friday that they have arrested the third man identified and wanted for the Sept. 21 daytime robbery and theft of marijuana plants from a medical marijuana grower's property in Winterport.

An arrest warrant for Kerry Hurd, 45, of Bangor, had been outstanding since early in October, when police were able to identify him as one of the three men who allegedly impersonated law enforcement before being chased by the owner off the property - carrying armfuls of marijuana plants.

Hurd was arrested Dec. 11 in the parking lot of the Hannaford grocery store in Bucksport, according to a Department of Public Safety press release Friday. He was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and State Police, and transported to Waldo County Jail in Belfast.

He is charged with robbery, impersonating a public servant, trespass and theft by unauthorized taking.

Two other men, Hurd's younger brother, 47-year-old Jeffrey Hurd, and 35-year-old Scott Roberts, both of Glenburn, turned themselves into police Oct. 1. Jeffrey Hurd and Roberts reportedly turned themselves in after learning they had been identified and warrants had been issued for their arrest shortly after the brazen robbery.

On Sept. 21, the Hurds and Roberts were accused of brandishing a handgun at the Winterport residence, impersonating law enforcement officers and making off with numerous mature marijuana plants. The plants were being grown for use by authorized medical marijuana patients, and the homeowner had security surveillance cameras on their property, which proved handy in identifying Jeffery Hurd and Roberts, and the events that unfolded.

Kerry Hurd's face was only partially visible in the images, making it harder to identify him as the third alleged suspect.

In the press release Friday, Maine State Police said they also arrested the person who allegedly drove the three men to the property in Winterport. That person was identified as 28-year-old April Jones of Orneville Township. She was also identified as Roberts' girlfriend.

Jones was arrested at her home, and charged with robbery and theft by unauthorized taking. She was taken to Piscataquis County Jail in Dover-Foxcroft.
