Mariners win; KVAC golf conference championships set

ROCKLAND — The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) playoffs continued Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Rockland Golf Club, with a battle of the top two as #1 Oceanside hosted #2 Messalonskee. 

Previously in the KVAC playoffs, Oceanside and Camden Hills grabbed victories Monday, Sept. 29.

Messalonskee is now eliminated. 

UPCOMING GOLF MATCHES

Oceanside and Camden Hills will both participate in the KVAC golf shootouts on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Rockland Golf Club. 

“The winners of the Class A and Class B Shootouts will be named the conference champs for their classification and receive an automatic bid to the MPA State Team Golf Championships on [Saturday,] Oct. 11 at Natanis,” said Maine Central Institute Athletic Director James “Jim” Leonard. 

Participating teams from Class A include Bangor, Oceanside and Oxford Hills. Participating teams from Class B include Camden Hills, Erskine Academy, Gardiner and Maine Central Institute. 

The matches will begin at 2 p.m., with the Class A shootout on the back nine holes, and the Class B shootout on the front nine holes. 

Each team will play six golfers in the Oct. 2 matches.
