A Waldo County man with no fixed address was arrested and charged with multiple crimes as a result of a series of burglaries and thefts in the areas of Stockton Springs, Prospect, and Freedom.

Dakota Raven, 21, was most recently charged with burglary and theft Oct. 24, though it marked his third set of identical charges this month.

In his most recent infraction Raven is accused of breaking into a combination barn/shop in Prospect and stealing a brand new pair of Chippewa boots, leaving his own boots behind in their place. A shotgun was also allegedly stolen during the break in, according to Chief Jason Trundy, of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The stolen boots were later found in Raven’s possession and he was charged with burglary and theft.

Raven initially came to the attention of law enforcement Oct. 9, when a resident of Knox reported that their garage had been broken into and a filled gas can stolen.

Police received a report of a second break in the following day. This time Freedom’s Snack Shack was the target, though the only thing found missing was a 36-pack of Brisk iced tea.

Trundy said the victims mentioned Raven as a possible suspect.

Deputies made contact with Raven Oct. 11, when he was discovered with a firearm inside his vehicle. Raven has been banned from possessing firearms due to an existing order of protection against him, and was arrested for violating that order. Raven reportedly admitted to both break-ins when questioned.

Raven was charged with violating a protection from abuse order again Oct. 21, after law enforcement responded to a request for a welfare check on Raven.

Raven was also charged with criminal mischief as a result of damage done during one of the break ins.

He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 8.
