SWANVILLE — Lake Lindelof, 11, and Jett Lindelof, 9, the sons of Jeff & Tracey Lindelof of Swanville, had another successful ski season, bringing home more ski racing medals this year.

The first event of the season was on January 18 at the JP Parisien Memorial Race, a Maine Alpine Racing Association slalom race, at the Lost Valley Ski Area in Auburn. Lake finished with a combined time of 56.73 earning him the U12 silver medalist podium position. Jett finished with times of 33.84 and 42.71, placing him fifth in the U10 group.

The second event was on January 25 at Hermon Mountain, where the boys leaned to ski, at the Chip Chochrane Invitational Ski Race with over 80 racers in attendance. Lake was the silver medalist in giant slalom and Jett brought home a bronze medal in slalom and a silver in giant slalom.

Then, it was on to Big Squaw Mountain in Greenville where the boys raced in the Plum Creek Timber Classic, where Jett flourished grabbing the gold medal podium position in giant slalom and a silver medal position in slalom, with Lake earning fourth and fifth place ribbons.

On March 15, the boys traveled to Aroostook and attended their four year racing in the Bigrock Invitational Ski Race at Bigrock Mountain in Mars Hill, which was part of the 15th Annual Mars Hill/Blaine Winterfest, with heavy snowfall rates of one-to-three inches per hour on race-day. With nearly 100 racers in attendance, Lake finished 18th and Jett 26th in giant slalom. In the afternoon slalom event, Lake placed 16th and Jett 31st after skiing one run only due to cancellation of the second run because of extreme white-out conditions.

The following weekend was spent at Sugarloaf where the boys participated in the 5th Annual Sugarloaf Banked Slalom snowboard race, a two-day snowboard race event with 225 riders, including two-time Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott. This was the third year the boys have attended this event and this year Lake placed 13th with a time of 1:35.87.

Then on March 26, the boys returned to Sugarloaf and met all of the United Stated Ski Team members in person at Sugarloaf's autograph signing event, where they were inspired by the encouraging words of these amazing athletes attending the U.S. Alpine Championships. The following two days were spent skiing the mountain and being spectators at the championship races, highlighted by watching the incredible 20 year-old Alpine Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin race the narrow gauge slalom course, watch her come through the finish up-close and take an exciting first place finish.

The Lindelof brothers have been enjoying skiing for seven years and have been snowboarding for five. They have been part of the Penobscot Valley Ski Team since 2011, and train at Hermon Mountain. They are also second-year members of the Waldo County Bluefish swim team and are fourth and fifth grarde elementary students at Cornerspring Montessori School in Belfast. They hope to attend Sugarloaf's Carabasset Valley Academy in their future.
