Lincolnville women arrested for burglary of neighbor's apartment

    LINCOLNVILLE — A Lincolnville woman who believed someone had been entering her apartment on numerous occasions and taking things from inside called police last week, after she said she saw one of the missing items inside a neighboring apartment.

    Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Laite handled the call that came in Jan. 16. The complainant told Laite she was missing a wide range of items and indicated that her neighbors might be involved.

    According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, Laite made contact with 37-year-old Monica Daskam, one of the tenants of the neighboring apartment, and during an interview with Daskam and another woman, 35-year-old Kristi Vanblarcom, and was allegedly able to recover some of the stolen items.

    Assisting Laite were Sgt. James Greeley and Detective Dale Brown, and they applied for a search warrant for Daskam's residence. The search results in the recovery of most of the items reported stolen by the complainant, with an estimated value of $3,000.

    Daskam and Vanblarcom were both arrested and charged with burglary, class C, and theft, class C. Bail for both women was set at $150 cash.

    According to the release, Daskam was able to post bail, while Vanblarcom remains in custody for the above charges, while also being arrested on an outstanding warrant for unpaid fines.
