Lincolnville resident, Camden-Rockport HS alumnus earn music awards

    LINCOLNVILLE — Glen Sargent of Lincolnville was recently presented with the "Music Educator Appreciation" award. This award is given by the Maine Music Educator's Association in recognition of an individual or organization for exceptional support and outstanding contributions to the advancement of music education in the schools of Maine.

    Mr. Sargent holds a degree from the Berklee College of Music and is a well-known, free-lance woodwind & jazz artist in the state of Maine. He is also a member of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he is the owner of 2nd Wind Music, an instrument repair company that provides services to professional musicians as well public schools.

    Glen Sargent was nominated for the award by CHRHS music teachers Nancy Rowe and Kimberly Murphy. Along with other characteristics, the teachers cited his willingness to go "above and beyond" in his work with the school musical, jazz ensemble and woodwind pedagogy.

    In addition to Glen Sargent's award, 1995 Camden-Rockport High School alumnus, Linda Vaillincourt (Charle), was awarded the 2018 Maine Music Educator of the Year Award. This award is given in recognition for exceptional support and outstanding accomplishments by one or more MMEA members to the advancement of music education in the schools of Maine. Mrs. Vaillincourt is now a music teacher at North Yarmouth Academy and resides with her husband and three children in Lewiston.
