ROCKLAND — A Lincolnville man who was arrested by Camden police for taking money from Megunticook Market in Camden has been sentenced in Knox County Unified Court Sept. 20.

Zachary Thomas, 33, appeared before Justice Bruce Mallonee and pleaded guilty to three counts of theft. A fourth count of theft and one count of burglary were dismissed.

A deferred disposition agreement was reached between Thomas and the District Attorney’s Office. The agreement stipulates that if Thomas meets the terms of the deferred disposition over the next year, the state will dismiss the three counts of theft.

Thomas was ordered to pay restitution of $4,033.68 in full prior to a sentencing date of Sept. 20, 2018. Other conditions of the agreement include that he must refrain from all criminal conduct and violation of federal, state and local criminal laws. He must also pay a monthly administrative fee of $10.

If Thomas is successful with meeting the terms of the agreement, the state will dismiss the three counts of theft for a $250 fine. If unsuccessful, then open sentencing will occur on the three counts.

Thomas was arrested Feb. 3 by Camden Police on four counts of theft and one count of felony burglary, according to Camden Police Detective Curt Andrick.

Police charged Thomas on physical evidence obtained. After he was arrested, Thomas was taken to the Knox County Jail and later released on $250 cash bail.

According to the police affidavit filed in Knox County Unified Court, Thomas had previously been employed by the market and had knowledge of the store, including where cash was secured. His most recent employment was painting and doing repairs after the store was closed.

Thomas stole approximately $3,000 during a two-week period in December, said Andrick.
