Letter to the editor: Watts Hall Community Players thanks the community

Volunteers in the greater Thomaston area once again pulled together to put on a musical during two weekends at Watts Hall. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice, with a cast of over 40 people, could not have been produced without the efforts of many.

Our business sponsors Epifanes Yacht Coatings, Walmart, and Brooks Trap Mill really helped support the overall production. Thanks also to Home Depot and Lowe's. Dick Cease worked tirelessly on lighting and to Larry and Georgene Arbor, Bill Hahn, Sid Quarrier, Kathryn Armstrong, Mary Lou Steger, David Hynd and Susan Levett for work on the set and set pieces.

A very special thank you goes to the Maine Theater Fund at the Maine Community Foundation. With the help of their generous grant, Chuck McGregor, a retired professional audio technologist, was able to work wonders on the sound system. He voluntarily designed ,purchased and installed new sounds equipment which in prior years, had to be borrowed from other theater or school groups. Taylor Stenger's help in installing and operating the new system was also invaluable.

Ursula Kruse-Vaucienne was the producer. Sarah Penney acted as assistant director and stage manager. Daryl Hahn was the artistic director and Sean Fleming the music director. Emily Jenks was the choreographer. Mary Lou Steger was the house manager. Jana Goddard headed up an able group of ticket sellers. Ben and Mary Anderson Griffin gathered props, Sheilagh Guyer directed a team of eight to create the costumes: Roberta Carmichael, Julie Stockpile, Arlene Woodman, Davene Fahy, Emily Carver, Juanita Mahon, Ann Robeson and Denise Trotter. Davene Fahy and Eliza Bailey headed up the publicity group of Lawrence Littleton, Emma Theobalds, Lynna Henderson and Beth Chamberlin.

Welcoming the audience to the show each night were Mimi Zwick, Julie Brooks and Ben Griffin. Jeanne Short, Benie Colvin, Pat Smith, Kathy Cuthbertson and Lora Ludwig managed audience refreshments. Isaiah Timberlake designed the program.

Proceeds from sold out performances will go toward improvements in the lighting system and eventually, the heating and cooling system. As the theater group recently received non profit status from the Internal Revenue Service, it will also be creating development opportunities to upgrade the hall.
