Letter to the editor: Snow Bowl vendor competition is healthy

Sun, 01/08/2017 - 10:15am

We are writing in support of the two vendors, Sidecountry Sports and Cold Toes Tacos, who would bring a lot of excitement and revenue to the Camden Snow Bowl, if they were allowed to continue having a presence at the hill.

Though we are not Camden residents and taxpayers, we, as a family, strongly support the Camden Snow Bowl by buying season passes, volunteering our time, supporting the racing program and passing the word to friends who live in other parts of the state.

We have been season passholders for years. The Snow Bowl is a gem, and a gift to our community.

The addition of Sidecountry Sports offering demonstration equipment and Cold Toes Tacos offering high-quality food can only increase the draw to the local hill.

Having been a retailer for years, competition was always welcomed. It is very healthy and the businesses of the sitting tenants might increase, too. Why don't they participate with demos of their equipment and food? Why not open it up to other food trucks and recreational supply businesses such as Maine Sport? The more, the merrier.

This could draw even more people to the area to use the Snow Bowl, as well as local hotels for lodging and in town restaurants for breakfast and dinner.

The Snow Bowl could become quite the draw with such vibrant attractions! Please reconsider your opposition to this exciting and popular addition.
