WASHINGTON — Leslie Merle Luce, died June 24, 2015, after a long illness, at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Burkettville, to Leroy Leslie and Geneva Evelyn (Mears) Luce.

Leslie attended public schools in Union before becoming a logger, and doing custom hay work.

He was a very hard working, self employed dairy farmer for almost 40 years. One of Leslie's favorite things to do was to go out to eat at the China Dinah with his wife, Joyce, and friends.

Everyone who met him enjoyed his company.

Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Arlene Willis; and his brother, Earland Luce.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Christine (Wyman) Luce; his children, Earland and his wife, Christine Luce, of Appleton, Richard and his wife, Sarah Luce, of Vassalboro, Pam and her husband, Norman Belcher, of Washington, Peter and his wife, Netha Luce, of Union, Kathleen Hartley of Arizona and Joylie Gushee of Washington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Alfred and his wife, Bertha, of Hope, and Walter and his wife, Dawn Luce, of Marshfield; three sisters, Alice and her husband, Donald Orff, of Montville, Shirley Savage of South Paris, and Loraine and her husband, Merle Prock, of Waldoboro.

A graveside service will take place Tuesday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Union, followed by a gathering to celebrate Leslie's life at Joyce's house on 24 Prosperity Lane in Washington.
