ROCKPORT – Camden Police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a March 6 incident whereby a Camden Hills Regional High School student allegedly took a weapon onto school property, possibly a few months ago.

The incident was reported to School Superintendent Maria Libby early this morning and she immediately contacted Camden Police, said Camden Police Chief Randy Gagne.

Detective Don Murray, of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, was assigned to the investigation as Camden Detective Curt Andrick is away at training.

“Initial reports were that the weapon was brought to school yesterday,” said Gagne, in a news release. “Through the investigation it was learned that the incident may have occurred in January. The student involved in this incident was immediately located at a residence in Camden. He has been interviewed and is currently in the custody of his parents while the investigation continues. The student and parents are both cooperating with law enforcement and school officials at this time. The name of the student is not being released as he is a juvenile. The investigation is continuing.”
