Camden Public Library

Landmarks of Camden in historic photo exhibit

Sun, 10/08/2017 - 6:30pm

As part of Discover History Month, the Camden Public Library will host an evening of historical photos from the library’s archives with added photos provided by attendees. The library invites anyone with photos of interest to bring them to the event on Thursday evening, October 12, at 7 p.m. The photos will be projected on the large screen for all to share and to add comments.

“The Walsh History Center has an astonishing number of photos showing details of Camden and Rockport since the dawn of photography,” said Ken Gross, history center director, in a news release. “We will start with some of Camden’s landmarks that we use to pin down the date of vintage photographs. For instance, the Summit House on Mt. Battie existed for only 20 years, and it shows up in every photograph of Camden harbor. We hope people will bring in photos to share so we can make a community historical  gathering,” he added.
