The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to 303 calls for service for the period of Jan. 22-28. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Jan. 22

Sgt, John Palmer conducted a traffic stop in Saint George. Jared Hansen, 38, of St. George, was summoned for operating after license suspension.

Sgt. Matthew Elwell conducted a traffic stop in Warren. Dustin Kimball, 21, of Waldoboro, was summoned for passenger not secured in seatbelt.

Jan. 23

Detective Donald Murray conducted a wanted person’s check in Rockland. Matthew Leigh, 20, of Washington, was arrested on an arrest warrant.

Deputy Scott Redmun responded to the report of a protection order violation in Union. Faylyn Vitale, 21, of Warren, was arrested for violating a protection from abuse order.

Jan. 24

Dep. Nathaniel Jack responded to a traffic crash in South Thomaston. Walter Galick, 63, of South Thomaston, lost control of his vehicle due to slush covered road, went off the roadway, and struck a utility pole. The vehicle sustained functional damage. No injuries were reported.

Jack, Palmer, and Lt. Patrick Polky responded to a traffic crash in Owls Head. Ashley Price, 24, of Owls Head, lost control of her vehicle due to slush covered roads, went off the roadway, and struck a tree. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Minor injuries were reported.

Deputy Paul Pinkham and Jack responded to a traffic crash in Union. Sheldon Lavway, 19, of Union, lost control of his vehicle due to speed and slush covered roads, went off the roadway, and struck a tree. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported.

Redmun conducted a wanted persons check in Union. Kathy Grierson, 28, of Union, was arrested on an arrest warrant.

Paul Spear and Polky responded to a traffic crash in St. George. Kristin Hodgdon, 41, of St. George, lost control of her vehicle due to wet roads, went off the roadway, and struck several trees. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported.  Spear summoned Hodgdon for producing evidence of insurance not in effect.

Jan. 25

Sgt.Lance Mitchell and Palmer, Jack, and Detective Justin Twitchell responded to the report of a domestic assault in Hope. Mitchell arrested Carly Gilbert, 19, of Camden, for domestic violence assault, obstructing the report of a crime, and violation of probation.

Spear responded to the report of a theft in Warren. The incident is under investigation.

Deputy Jeremy Joslyn and Sgt. Elwell responded to a traffic crash in Washington. Mindy Lavoie, 40, of Friendship, lost control of her vehicle due to icy roads, went off the roadway, and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Minor injuries were reported. Joslyn summoned Lavoie for failure to produce evidence of insurance.

Jan. 26

Deputy John Hansen and Spear responded to a traffic crash in South Thomaston. Philip Poland, 42, of Cushing, failed to control his vehicle and trailer due to sobriety, left the roadway, and struck a culvert. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported. Spear arrested Poland for operating under the influence of alcohol.

Jan. 27

Joslyn conducted a wanted person’s check in Appleton. Nyssa Belvill, 29, of Appleton, was arrested on an arrest warrant.

Deputy Robert Potter conducted a traffic stop on Vinalhaven. Brandon McAuliffe, 20, of Warren, was summoned for operating after license suspension.

Redmun conducted a traffic stop in Hope. A Juvenile, 16, was summoned for carrying passengers in violation of interim license restriction.

Redmun conducted a traffic stop in Thomaston. Sasha Grotton, 27, of South Thomaston, was summoned for failure to display valid certificate of inspection and failure to produce evidence of insurance.

Jan. 28

Pinkham conducted a traffic stop in Warren. Dale Shallow, 40, of Warren, was summoned for operating with an expired registration.

Mitchell conducted a traffic stop in Rockland. David Huntley, 69, of Rockland, was summoned for speeding.

Redmun and Joslyn responded to a report of threatening statements. Redmun summoned Shayne Elwell, 29, of Rockland, for terrorizing.
