ROCKLAND — The Knox County grand jury met for two days this week and indicted eight individuals, including a sealed indictment pending an arrest. The 16 counts include a Waldo County manslaughter case of an infant and a man accused of arson for setting fire to an occupied home. An indictment does not imply guilt.

Timothy M. Barbeau, 42, of Rockland, was indicted for two counts of arson for allegedly setting fire to a mobile home in Rockland on Nov. 8, 2016. According to the court affidavit, at the time of the fire, three people were asleep inside the home, including a six-year-old child. Barbeau allegedly splashed gasoline on the outside of the mobile home in the Sunset Terrace Mobile Home Park and lit it. A neighbor was outside and saw Barbeau allegedly start the fire. That neighbor tackled and held him at the fire scene until Rockland Police arrived. The investigator from the Office of the Maine State Fire Marshal collected the evidence at the scene, including a partially burned gasoline can and its contents, a gasoline can nozzle and a lighter. The fire cause minimal damage to the exterior of the residence and no one was injured, according to the affidavit.

Joseph Crosby, 30, of Belgrade, was indicted for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer of lobsters and/or lobster crates from Samuel H. Olson of Sam’s Seafood LLC on April 21, 2016, in Cushing. The property was valued at more than $1,000.

Brian R. Day, 36, of Windsor, was indicted for operating a motor vehicle after revocation and violating a condition of release on June 2, 2016, in Thomaston. Day was convicted of operating under the influence on March 16, 2015, in Rockland District Court, according to the indictment.

Jeffrey H. Dorr Jr., 36, of South Thomaston, was indicted for theft by unauthorized taking on June 22 at Hamilton Marine, Inc., in Rockland. Dorr is accused of stealing a wire cutting/stripping tool. He was convicted of theft in 2013 in Lincoln County Superior Court and in 2014 in Knox County Superior Court.

Jessica L.M. Hooper, 30, of Camden, was indicted for operating a motor vehicle after revocation on Jan. 18 in Thomaston. Hooper was convicted of operating after revocation on March 26, 2013, in Knox County Superior Court, according to the indictment.

Miranda Hopkins, 32, of Troy, was indicted for manslaughter for allegedly causing the death of Jaxon Hopkins on Nov. 21, 2016. The indictment accused Hopkins of acting recklessly or with criminal negligence causing the death of the child.

Brandon M. Klein, 33, of Washington, was indicted for aggravated assault, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a knife, domestic violence assault, and tampering with a victim for alleged offenses from Jan. 13 in Washington. According to the indictment, Klein has previous convictions for domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence assault both in Knox County Superior Court and Kennebec County Unified Court.
