    June events provided by the Penobscot Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital. Most events require preregistration so look at the dates of the events and get registered before space runs out.

    Journey to Health Walking Club June Schedule

    Looking for a group activity for that extra support to get up and go? Join Community Health & Wellness staff for weekly walks around Knox and Waldo counties. June walks are scheduled for Tuesdays in Knox County and Thursdays in Waldo County, weather permitting. Walk with us as often as you can. All are welcome. No registration required.     Acupressure is a simple and effective way to alleviate stress and enhance well-being. It stems from a long tradition of Chinese medicine that uses pressure points to stimulate the body to heal itself. This class will introduce the principles behind acupressure and provide basic training on how to use acupressure for yourself.

    Parkinson's Group to Take a Closer Look at "Laughter Yoga"
    Date: Tuesday, June 7
    Time: Noon to 1:45 p.m.
    Location: Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden
    Cost: Free & open to those living with Parkinson's, their families, and caregivers

    Yoga instructor Tina Lee, LMT, will return by popular demand to the area's Parkinson's disease Support Group on Tuesday, June 7, from noon to 1:45 p.m. at Quarry Hill. The meeting will continue the group's exploration of the benefits of "laughter yoga" and is open to all those with Parkinson's, as well as their loved ones and caregivers.

    Lee, who specializes in "laughter yoga," says that it's suitable for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability and that it proves laughter really is good medicine for mind, body,

    Admission to all Parkinson's Support Group meetings is free. Attendees are generally encouraged to bring bag lunches; Quarry Hill provides beverages and desserts.

    Lunn to Recount Travels on Inca Trail

    Henry (Hank) Lunn, M.Ed., of Camden will chronicle his 2004 adventure on the famous Inca Trail in the Peruvian Andes in an illustrated talk scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Quarry Hill. The program is specially designed for adults age 50-plus; admission will be free of charge.

    A retired history teacher whose "living history" performances have gained an enthusiastic
    following, Lunn will describe his hike along the trail, from the little railhead town of Aguas Calientas to Machu Picchu, the ancient, cloud-shrouded "Lost City of the Incas." Starting with a walk over a swaying footbridge across the Rio Urubamba, Lunn's route took him steadily upward for two days to the Sun Gate, overlooking the breathtaking ruins of Machu Picchu at an elevation of 8,000 feet.
