ROCKLAND — Jean A. Fisher, 86, a longtime resident of East Hartland, Conn., died April 16, 2015, at the Windward Gardens in Camden.

Jean was the daughter of the late John R.H. and Helen Armstrong and grew up in Sheffield, Mass., where she was a member of the championship-winning 1946 women's high-school basketball team.

After graduating from business school, she became a payroll bookkeeper at the American Bosch Co. in Springfield, where she met a young design engineer, Roy Fisher, who began his courtship by asking her to change a quarter. They married in 1952 and had two children, Mark (Barbara), of Columbus, Ohio, and Lynne (Gary) Henry, of Rockland.

A talented amateur soprano, Jean spent 60 years as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and as a friend to many in East Hartland. She was a devout and committed Christian who carefully studied the Bible and the precepts of her faith.

In 2012, she and Roy moved to Rockland, where he died the following year.

Surviving are her children, Mark Fisher and his wife, Barbara, of Columbus, Ohio, and Lynne Henry and her husband, Gary, of Rockland; two granddaughters, Sophia Fisher of Columbus, Ohio, and Sarah Henry of Rockland.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Simsbury, Conn. Burial will follow the service in the Center Cemetery in Sheffield, Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church of Simsbury, Conn., where Jean attended for many years.
