The Midcoast sports scene was busy with several sporting events on Tuesday, Jan. 17. 

Below are the scores and stats for those contests that were reported to our sports department.

7th Grade Boys Basketball: Great Salt Bay 57, Medomak 30

The Medomak Middle School 7th boys traveled to Damariscotta on Tuesday afternoon to face Great Salt Bay.

The Great Salt Bay group came out strong while MMS struggled initially resulting in the first quarter advantage to be 21-10 GSB.

The MMS young men tried to get back in the game in the second quarter and were outscored 14-10, however were not deterred by the 15 point half time deficit.

In the second half the young men worked hard but were unable to find a scoring rhythm and ended up with dropping their second game of the season.

Quarter scores (GSB listed first): 21-10, 35-20 and 47-25.

8th Grade Girls Basketball: Medomak 48, Great Salt Bay 23

It was the last regular season game at home for the 8th grade Medomak Middle School girls.  

MMS took the early lead and never looked back.

MMS scored 16 points in the first to GSB’s four points.  MMS scored 11 more points in the second and GSB was able to score seven.  The half time score was MMS 27-11.
 
MMS girls came out in the third and let GSB score 10 points to their 9 points.  MMS shut GSB down in the fourth and scored 12 points while GSB was only able to score two.
 
The final was MMS 48 to GSB 23.
