Jan. 10 Recaps: Busline Basketball

The Midcoast sports scene was busy with several busline middle school basketball games Wednesday, Jan. 10.

7th Grade Boys : Oceanside 47, Great Salt Bay 38

Oceanside, which improved to 7-0 on the season, held quarterly advantages of 17-11, 25-21 and 36-32.

7th Grade Girls: Medomak 31, Camden-Rockport 18

Medomak held quarterly advantages of 6-5, 14-6 and 22-12. 

“Great defense was played by Emily Prock, Addison McCormick, Quinn Overlock and Ana Underhill,” said Medomak coach Andrea Williamson.

7th Grade Boys: Medomak 49, Camden-Rockport 26 

Medomak, which improved to 6-3 on the season , was tied with Camden-Rockport 10-10 after one, before taking 24-15 and 39-21 quarterly advantages. 

“The teams matched baskets in the first quarter before Medomak was able to put together a scoring run and a nine point halftime edge,” Medomak coach Patrick Delahanty said. “The second half saw Medomak pull away with improved execution on both ends of the floor and an increased intensity overall, very much a team effort with a balanced scoring effort.”

“Wyatt Simmons and Connor Light contributed with excellent effort throughout the contest,” Delahanty noted.

8th Grade Boys Basketball: Medomak 52, Camden-Rockport 50
 
Camden-Rockport squeaked out leads of 14-12 and 25-24 in the first half before widening the lead to 40-34 after the third quarter. 
 
With five seconds on the regulation clock, Trevor Brown nailed the winning bucket to snatch the victory from the Schooners. 
 
“Great defense by Addison Mellor and Isaak Hynd put Medomak in good position to win the game down the stretch,” said Medomak coach Micah Williamson.
