Jammers slip past Mariners in second half surge

ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills freshmen boys basketball team came out of the locker room for the second half pumped up about the second quarter comeback they had put together and continued that play throughout the second half to pull out a 57-53 win over the visiting Oceanside Mariners.

Oceanside lead 14-12 after the first quarter and 29-23 at the half. In the third quarter Camden Hills took the lead 43-40 and held on for the win in the final quarter.

Jesse Fraser led the Windjammers with a game high 24 points, 21 in the second half; Daniel Peabody 10; Conrad Crans nine; Tucker Grinnell six; Dawson Robert four; and Ethan Hamlin and Chris Rafter two each.

The Jammers were 13-of-23 (57 percent) from the foul line and they had two three pointers from Fraser.

For Oceanside, Michael Norton led the team with 16 points; Logan Sheridan 12; Hunter Davis seven; Josh Peaco six; John Curtain five; C. Fait four; Nick Crudell two; and Jack Freeman one.

The Mariners were 12-of-28 (43 percent) from the foul line and they had two 3-point baskets, one each from Davis and Sheridan.
