CAMDEN — The old saying is “No good deed goes unpunished,” but in 5-year-old Andrew Laidlaw’s case, a good deed had a quick payback in the form of a sweet catch out of Hosmer Pond in Camden.

According to Andrew’s father, Morgan Laidlaw, his two sons were fishing off the dock on the pond Saturday. Andrew’s brother is Will, and he is 8 year old. While waiting for a fish to bite, Laidlaw said the boys saw the “algae man” on a barge, scooping algae off the pond.

“The algae man was out in the barge working hard but not picking up much algae. The boys offered him an ice cream sandwich and within a few minutes he brought in the fish,” said Laidlaw.

Nice work, all around, we say!
