ROCKLAND — Georges River Land Trust (GRLT) announced the launching of a vehicle donation program in partnership with Eastern Tire and Auto Service in Rockland. All proceeds from the sale of donated vehicles will support local land protection, nature education, and the 50-mile Georges Highland Path trail system.

“We are so grateful to Eastern Tire for this terrific way to turn used cars, boats, and trucks into preserves, trails, and outdoor activities for the public,” said Gail Presley, Executive Director of Georges River Land Trust, in a news release.

Eastern Tire will assist the Land Trust by assessing vehicles for their potential for resale, marketing donated vehicles for sale, and facilitating the sales transaction. Vehicle donors will receive documentation from the Land Trust of the price at which the vehicle sells, or $500, whichever is greater, for tax deduction purposes.

“Our first experience was very successful and resulted in a substantial gift for the Land Trust,” said Alvin Chase, owner of Eastern Tire.

This program offers participants a way to avoid the hassles associated with selling or disposing of a used vehicle. All vehicles must have a clear title in the donor’s name. To get your donation started, call Alvin Chase at Eastern Tire at (207) 594-5250 or stop by 70 Park Street in Rockland.
