BELFAST — “A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Belfast”, a Musical Comedy Revue, will take center stage at the Basil Burwell Community Theatre April 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. Presented by the Belfast Maskers to benefit New Hope Midcoast, theatergoers will enjoy an evening of songs from Broadway shows while supporting a great cause.

New Hope Midcoast (Formerly known as New Hope for Women) is an organization that serves individuals affected by domestic abuse, dating violence, and stalking. More information about the organization can be found here.

The creative team behind this unique show is new to Maine but long in tooth to the theater.

Director Teri Quappe has directed numerous musicals over the years while also treading the boards.

Chuck and Barrie Quappe (her parents) are the Musical Directors and have been performing together in bands since the early 2980s all over the world.

The concept of performing a selection of songs as a revue is not a new one but rather a fun opportunity to perform songs from shows that you love and dust off some obscure numbers.

Songs from the show were pulled from old favorites such as "Guys and Dolls" and some newer shows like "Waitress"—while always paying homage to the legend of Broadway, Steven Sondheim. The selections will be performed by Angela Domenichelli, Bob Nichols, Gwyneth Sauvage, Erik Perkins, Teri Quappe, and Miles Mailloux.

General admission seats are on sale now for $20 here or at the box office one hour before the show. Drinks will be available for purchase at the show. The Basil Burwell Community Theater is at 17 Court Street in Belfast.
