NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Freddie Alton Luce, 58, of North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Sept. 16, 2014, at his home after a long struggle with poor health.

He was born Sept. 18, 1955, in Waldoboro. He grew up in Rockland, where he attended Rockland District High School.

Freddie did many things during his life and was taken too early; he loved many and was loved by everyone who had the pleasure to meet with him. He enjoyed drawing and painting, which spilled over into his occupation as a painter in Maine, where he was self-employed, and to his final job in Florida with Florida Painting Co.

His passion was motorcycles and everything that goes along with them: riding, freedom of the road and the sense of brotherhood among other riders.

Freddie is survived by his sons, Josiah Winchenbach of Jefferson, William Eustis of Rockland, Michael Luce of Fort Myers, Fla., and Chris Luce of South Portland; and his older sister, Barbara Hannon of Union. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Luce; his mother, Alma Gray; and his older brother, Robert "Bob" Luce.

An informal memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, followed by a celebration of life at the Rockland Elks Lodge.
