ROCKLAND – Lynn Archer, of the Brass Compass and Archer’s on the Pier, will be one of the judges for a new food competition pilot shooting on Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31, as part of the Lobster Festival festivities. The pilot is being produced by Thinkfactory Media for the Food Network. Thinkfactory has produced reality shows like Gene Simmons Family Jewels and Hatfield & McCoys.

The cooking competition will feature local and out-of-state amateur chefs cooking an all seafood menu.

The first contest starts at 9 a.m. at the festival grounds. Judging will begin at around 11 a.m. A second cook off will be scheduled later in the afternoon.

Lynn Archer, known for her two local restaurants, has already had success with Food Network projects. She won a Throwdown against celebrity chef Bobby Flay in 2009 with her lobster club sandwich.

“We’re going to put Rockland on the map,” she said. “We’re going to show it as the gem that it is. It’s a very fine honor, and I’m very honored to have been selected.”

The show will be shooting at the Lobster Festival and at the Brass Compass and Archer’s on the Pier. Locals have a chance to be part of the live audience.

Fiore will be hosting the Seafood Cooking Contest, an annual festival event, on Friday.
