Sun, 10/29/2017 - 10:00am

CAMDEN — On a glorious autumn morning at the Camden Snow Bowl, the 3rd/4th grade Five Town Football junior varsity Jammers took on the Oceanside Mariners in a well played Saturday, Oct. 28 battle which saw Oceanside bottle up the vaunted Jammer rushing attack in the second half.

However, the Jammers had a 14-0 halftime lead and held on for a 20-7 victory that launched them into the Coastal Youth Football League championship to be hosted by Medomak Youth Football at Union Elementary School on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The kickoff will take place at 11 a.m. when the Jammers will take on the Belfast Lions in the second meeting of the top two CYFL junior varsity squads. The Jammers won the lone meeting this year with a 12-6 sudden death overtime victory.

The Jammers, coached by Keith Massengale and assisted by Jed Schwaim and David Batty, will be participating in the JV championship game for the second time in its CYFL history. The Jammers last captured the 2013 JV Gold Ball with an undefeated 10-0 record and in 2011 its 4th/5th grade JV squad won the officially recognized state championship as a member of the Maine Youth Football League based in Portland and surrounding areas.
