Five Town Football rolls into homecoming weekend at Camden Hills

Sat, 09/30/2017 - 9:30am

ROCKPORT — The Five Town Football organization will be well represented as it participates during the Camden Hills Homecoming football game at Don Palmer Field Friday, Oct. 6 and a doubleheader for the JV and varsity squads kicking off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the high school football field.

Thanks to efforts of the Boosters Club for this year's high school varsity football team, all Five Town Football alumni (individuals who participated in youth football for the organization at one point or another as players or coaches) are welcome to take part in a non-contact game versus the current 3rd/4th grade (JV) Jammers at halftime of Friday’s game.

The idea, according to a press release, is designed to blend the past with the present and future of Five Town Football now in its 12th full season serving as the feeder program for Camden Hills. The organization is a credit to the efforts of former high school coaches Linwood Downs and Thad Chilton as the founders of Five Town Football among a host of others that made this outlet possible for football lovers of all ages in the towns of Camden, Rockport, Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville.

Additionally, this year's JV, varsity, and middle school aged teams will be recognized on the field at halftime Friday prior to the start of the alumni exhibition.

The 3rd/4th grade JV is proving to be a juggernaut with a 4-0 record going into Saturday's contest vs. Belfast Travel Football at the Snow Bowl.

Meanwhile, the 5th/6th grade varsity has recovered from a slow start to win their last two outings for a 2-2 record. The varsity game follows the JV game on Saturday.

The middle school squad sits at 0-4 following last Tuesday's loss to Medomak and travels to Brewer on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The 7th/8th graders field a competitive squad that returns several players to the field for the Brewer game. Moreover, it features eight eighth graders that should be joining the high school varsity next season, per the release.
