TENANTS HARBOR — The Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor will feature the works of Tenants Harbor artist Darlene Cocke and Spruce Head artist Laurie Webber from through March 31. The library will display a variety of pieces including different media such as acrylic, watercolor and mixed media from both artists' collections.

Cocke lived life as a child of the sea. Born into a lobstering family and growing up in Spruce Head, She acquired a love for nature from a lifetime on the water and a passion for art from her mother. Although Cocke is basically self-taught in the arts, she paints using watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media to capture the beauty of Maine's lighthouses, birds and flowers. She and her husband, David, own Pond House Gallery and Framing in Tenants Harbor.

An island girl at heart, Webber grew up on Matinicus where she enjoyed the company of visiting artists from around the world. Her passion and interest in the arts continued throughout her education and into her adult life when Webber began to take college courses in the arts. Her arts education focused on graphic design with classes from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She has successfully combined her love for painting with her background in graphic design, creating her own business, Sea Glass Graphics.
