MATINICUS — Today’s storm hasn’t panned out like they said, to say the least, after forecasters Friday night said that Mount Desert Island would likely get the brunt of the snow. Instead, the storm made a beeline for the Midcoast, and the trough has settled in, dumping a lot of snow on Camden, Lincolnville, Rockland and the islands in Penobscot Bay.

And MDI? Well, they haven’t seen much of anything, from what we can see.

Eva Murray on Matinicus sent us some photos of what it looks like in their world, and the most recent measurement shows about 2-feet of snow on the ground.

The island’s plow truck is out doing its job, but the telephone truck is going to stay put, covered and buried deep in the drifts.

The wind is starting to pick up a bit, and even though the temperature is still at 14 degrees Fahrenheit here in Lincolnville, the wind is making it feel more like half that, or colder.

Stay warm, keep your pets indoors and check on family and friends and neighbors, especially the elderly and home bound.
